Black Friday is becoming more and more popular in Western countries, just like the Singles Day on November 11 that came over from Asia. For the large chains that go from Sale to Sale, this is yet another opportunity to get rid of old collections and to attract more people to their (online) shop. But let’s face it, it’s not very sustainable and many of these items are back in the closet after a few weeks or months. For haus am zee I made the choice not to do sales because the products I sell are timeless, sustainable and fair trade. Only my guests of the beach house get a discount for the shop as a thank you. For me, this Black Friday stands for giving instead of selling and that’s why I’m giving away two styling sessions via Instagram with the starting point; How can you give your interior a new, fresh look with your existing interior and minimal resources? That table you have does not always need to be replaced, but can last for years with a bit of fresh paint. So is your couch, replace some cushions or put a new cover around it and go to the thrift store to buy that new coffee table. You not only create your own unique style in your home, but you also ensure that fewer products are made and thrown away. So good for your wallet and good for the planet.
